A group of ten convicted of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced charges of spreading false claims regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to posting hurtful comments about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.
The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A persistent false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's gender.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens brushed aside any factual proof contradicting her allegations in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these allegations on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she taught at his secondary school.
The pair tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
