Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the championship lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
The veteran finished practice in P19, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619secs off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
